About Our Melting Tanks - Crackfillers
Matthews Brothers offer a small but growing range of Bitumen Melting Tanks ideally suited to Crack Filling.
Designed and manufactured to MBE’s high quality and standards, our Melting Tanks are skid mounted to allow them to be bolted to a variety of truck or trailer options 1, 2, 3.
Our MBE equipment is designed to meet the demanding Australian conditions in a way that only home-grown engineering can.
Bitumen Tanker Specification
MBE Bitumen Melting Tanks (a.k.a. Crack fillers) are currently available in two sizes depending on your capacity requirements:
- 500 Litre 1
- 2,000 Litre 2
Both models feature our purpose designed and time proven Bitumen Pumps and Valves which are mounted internally of the tank to help keep the bitumen product at temperature, a feature which is especially important when using modified bitumen products.
Built Options
There is a small selection of options available to optimise your equipment to your specific requirements, such as electrical immersion heaters to safely keep the product at temperature overnight. MBE Bitumen Melting Tanks are made to order in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located Altona North, Victoria.

1 The actual capacity of this tank falls under 500 litres and as such is exempt form Dangerous Goods Transport legislation.
2 This tank does not come with a Dangerous Goods Design Approval No. necessary for the Transport of HOT bitumen products. As such this tank should only be used for the transport of bitumen below 60 C. Bitumen product to be heated to operational temperature on site.
