About Our Tack Coaters (MPAV)
MBE have been producing specialised road manufacturing machinery & equipment since the 70’s. For over half a century we have refined our products resulting in our modern range of premier equipment including our MBE Tack Coaters also known as MPAV’s (Multi-Purpose Asphalting Vehicle).
Our Tack Coaters are designed to meet the demanding Australian conditions in a way that only home-grown engineering can. All MBE products are supported by an array of ‘Spare Parts’ manufactured right here in Australia to keep your machinery in full working order.
Tack Coater Specification
Our multi-purpose asphalt vehicles (MPAV) / Tack Coaters are primarily used for the application of Bitumen Emulsion to prime the road surface before laying hot mix asphalt as well as general road maintenance such as patching, road shoulder repairs and filling road cracks. We currently offer two payload options across a variety of chassis (Scania, Hino, Isuzu and more).
- 2,000 Litre – 4 x 2 Chassis
- 4,000 Litre – 4 x 2 Chassis
These Tack coater also doubles as a roadmaking utility support vehicle with a wide variety of options available (for further details see ‘Options’ section below).
Spray System
Our emulsion sprayers use MBE bitumen pumps to deliver the product to the Spraybar and hand lance. In addition to the time proven reliability of our bitumen pumps, we can also offer sprayer calibration which is in increasing demand for emulsion sprayers.
The MPAV Spraybar features a variation on the Poppet spray valves available on our Bitumen Sprayers, with the addition of air blow outs to clear the jets after each spray run. Each valve can be individually selected via the cab mounted control panel allowing the operator absolute operational control.
Options
The Spraybar is available in several options to suit your specific requirements, including:
- Classic Fixed – 10 Jet @ 200 mm spacing.
- Classic Extending – 10 Jets fixed, plus 2 x telescopic @ 200 mm spacing.
- Traverse – 10 Jets @ 200 mm spacing, traveling 300 mm Left & Right from centre.
